At the moment it can be hard to know what to do if you're unwell. It's still important to get medical help if you need it.

There are ways to get medical help and prescriptions online or over the phone.

About Coronavirus

If you think you have symptoms of coronavirus and need medical advice, use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service (https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19/). If you have at least one of the coronavirus symptoms, you must get yourself tested .You and your household should self isolate for 14 days.

Please be aware that we are not doing Covid-19 Swab tests. To get a test, please call 119 or request one at the government website  (https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test).

UPTON SURGERY

You may have heard in the news that GP surgeries are not allowing patients to be seen face to face. Please be reassured this is not the case at Upton Surgery.

However due to the unpredictable nature of coronavirus outbreaks, we are still having to make changes to how you contact us.

This is to limit face-to-face contact whenever possible and help stop the spread of coronavirus.

We are open and if you need to see your GP, please ring us on 01684 592696 – our opening hours are 8am – 6:30pm.

Face-to-face appointments are available to all patients, but you may be asked to discuss your conditions over the phone or online first to assess what would be most appropriate for you. But please do not come to the surgery unless you have an appointment.

Appointments are being delivered online over the telephone and via video, If you are asked to come into the surgery for a face-to-face appointment, please remember to wear a face covering.

If this is the case measures are in place to keep you safe from infection during your visit to the surgery.

Repeat prescriptions

If you have a repeat prescription that you usually request at your GP surgery or pharmacy, you can do this online.

You can order repeat prescriptions:

  • calling the dispensary line on 01684 592 840 on Monday-Friday between 08:30-10:30am.

  • using online services or apps linked to your GP surgery

Do not go to your GP surgery or pharmacy to order prescriptions. Call them if you cannot order your prescription online.

When you order your prescription, order it at the same time and in the same amount you usually would. Do not order more than you need as this may mean someone else will be unable to get their medicine.

BEWARE OF SCAMMERS

There is heightened coverage around the recent Coronavirus outbreak around the world, which is now severely impacting on the UK and the NHS.

Unfortunately fraudsters are targeting these circumstances to take advantage of public fear and concern

We have been made aware that our patients are receiving phone calls, texts and letters from fraudsters. They will try and obtain your personal details and in particular your NHS number.

Scammers are sophisticated, opportunistic and will try many ways to get the information they want. They often target the vulnerable.

If you are suspicious, do not give any details over the phone, hang up and then ring your GP Practice to confirm.

WE ARE HAPPY TO ASSIST YOU

If you require any of our information to be provided in an alternative format, or need help with communicating, please let us know.

We can provide large print or easy read materials, interpreting services, Deaf Direct and Braille services, as required.

ADDITIONAL APPOINTMENTS

We are now offering extended hours appointments, outside our normal opening hours. These will usually be between 7:30-8am and 6:30-7pm which will hopefully help patients attend appointments for those who find it difficult to attend between 8.00 a.m. – 6.30 p.m. If you would benefit from an extended hours appointment, please discuss this with the receptionist who will be happy to advise on availability.

(Please note this is a voluntary additional service with a limited number of appointments - The appointments are via a clinical system that is accessible countywide but will normally be with a GP from our practice unless otherwise told).

If you are unable to attend an appointment you have booked, for whatever reason, please let us know. We can then offer that appointment to someone else who may need it.

We’re here for you, for longer
