WELCOME TO UPTON SURGERY
Due to the ever-changing situation with corona virus and increasing numbers of cases within the West Midlands, the surgery will no longer be pre-booking any appointments or booking routine follow-ups. Any patient requiring an appointment should call on the day where you will be added to a triage telephone list and you will be called by a GP or nurse before any appointments are made. Please ensure you are well on the day. Going forward the doors to the surgery will be locked to reduce footfall and protect you and staff.
In line with National Guidance Upton Surgery and the two Pershore Practices are working together to provide the best care for patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. This means that there will need to be one site where patients who may be at higher risk of COVID-19 should be assessed, this will be known as the 'Red Site'. This will generally be for patients who have fever or respiratory symptoms(cough and shortness of breath). Patients who need seeing in person but who do not have symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 will need to be seen at a different site to reduce the risk of cross infection, this will be known as the 'Amber Site'. All appointments for both sites will be made following telephone or video assessment by a GP or Advanced Nurse Practitioner. For Pershore and Upton the Red Site will be at Abbottswood Medical Centre in Pershore. Patients will be seen there by a GP from their own practice. Upton Surgery and Pershore Medical Practice will both be Amber Sites. Please be reassured that the staff working in both sites will have appropriate protective equipment. There are set safety protocols and strict cleaning schedules in place to protect patients and staff. This new arrangement will commence from Monday 31st March.
We expect the vast majority of patient contacts to be safely completed by telephone or video consultation, and the number of patients needing face to face appointments will be very low. Please contact your surgery by phone if you need medical advice. NHS 111 online should continue to be your first point of contact for any concerns regarding COVID-19.
From Monday 30/03/2020, during the Corona Virus pandemic, we will now be delivering ALL DISPENSING PATIENTS' prescriptions except for those for 'out of area' patients', this does not include patients who receive prescriptions from Boots. Deliveries will happen twice weekly and will be completed by volunteers organised by Stay Connected in Upton. All acute prescriptions that are required to be started the same day will be delivered from 4.30pm that day (if you have been prescribed an acute item please contact Stay Connected between 10am and 3pm on 01684 594 991). This is to reduce the need for people to leave their houses and reduce social contacts.
Please see days of deliveries for specific area (which will include surrounding smaller areas not listed) below (there are a few changes below to previous:
Out of area patients' will still need to collect their prescriptions in the same way.
Please see Prescriptions for changes to the dispensary.

News & Topical Issues:
We are now offering extended hours appointments, outside our normal opening hours. These will usually be between 7:30-8am and 6:30-7pm which will hopefully help patients attend appointments for those who find it difficult to attend between 8.00 a.m. – 6.30 p.m. If you would benefit from an extended hours appointment, please discuss this with the receptionist who will be happy to advise on availability.
(Please note this is a voluntary additional service with a limited number of appointments - The appointments are via a clinical system that is accessible countywide but will normally be with a GP from our practice unless otherwise told).
If you are unable to attend an appointment you have booked, for whatever reason, please let us know. We can then offer that appointment to someone else who may need it.
Named, Accountable GP
All patients, including children are allocated a named, accountable GP. Patients can continue to choose to see any GP in the practice in line with current arrangements. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
